Day 3 (10 Feb 2012) – Problem 3: Lack of regular eye checks

Today we talk about the lack of regular eye checks! Did you know that for all of you who wear contact lenses, you should get your eyes checked at least ONCE a year? Yes, you should be getting your eyes checked whether or not you experience any form of discomfort in your usage of contact lenses!

Sometimes, it’s not uncommon to suffer from certain symptoms such as redness in the eyes, swelling, itching etc. These are signs of eye infections. You should NEVER ever attempt to self treat their symptoms, let alone neglect them. Always seek professional advice in these cases as eye checks are necessary.

Wondering why regular eye checks are so important and necessary?

1. It makes sure your prescription is up-to-date.

2. Optometrists check the health of your eyes and the curvature of the cornea.

3. On top of that, your eyes are examined for any microscopic complications that contact lens wearers might be at risk of. (Remember, early detection simply means LESS risks of severe eye infections!)

4. Abnormal blood vessel growth related to a lack of oxygen to the cornea is another thing that your eye doctor may check for at your annual contact lens examination.

Do make sure you go for regular eye checkups to prevent all these complications!

Always ensure the health of your eyes, for you’ll be rewarded with sights truly worth keeping.
