Day 2 (9 Feb 2012) – Problem 2: Lack of proper cleaning procedures; products required from ambassadors’ kit include contact lens cleaning solution and contact lens case.

It’s DAY 2 of the AFS ambassador challenge! Today we talk about the lack of proper cleaning procedures!

I’m currently wearing Dailies simply cos it’s much more convenient (but expensive) and I can just toss them out after wearing, without having to clean them. I’ve worn Monthly lenses before, and I really hate cleaning them. I’d always be super lazy and refuse to really take the time to wash them. Instead, I’d just rinse the case and pour new solution into the contact lens case.

Contact lenses that are not properly cleaned can cause eye infections, which is definitely a bane to everyone. Who likes red and swollen eyes? Your eyes are the windows to your soul heh. Today I am gonna talk about the FOUR simple proper steps to clean contact lenses!

1. Wash your hands thoroughly before handling your contact lenses!

2. CLEAN, RINSE, DISINFECT!

3. Use only fresh contact lens care solutions and NEVER tap water!!

4. Store your lenses in the case and soak with solution.

The above cleaning steps should always be adhered to each time you remove your lenses! Don’t be lazy!

Always ensure the health of your eyes, for you’ll be rewarded with sights truly worth keeping.
